🌿 Nature Connection: The Earth is Speaking

  • Live Oak Park 1301 Shattuck Avenue Berkeley, CA, 94709 United States (map)

On this Sunday excursion, Jess will facilitate as we immerse ourselves in nature connection core practices, learning to awaken and attune our senses, deepen our embodied awareness, and become more aware of the life around us.  We'll create a foundation for how we can encounter the natural world together through land based practices, somatic connection, and prayer.

📅 Date: Sunday, May 25th, 2025
🕘 Time: 12 - 2 PM
📍 Location: Live Oak Park (New location!)
1301 Shattuck Ave., Berkeley
Picnic Area 1

Parking is on the street and should be available on Shattuck and Walnut.

Finding the gathering:

Live Oak park is located between Shattuck and Walnut and can be approached from either road. Follow the pathways under tree cover towards the creek that runs through the center of the park. Picnic Area 1 is on the north bank of the creek. We will also post a few signs around the park to help guide the way, or you can reach out to Leah if you’re having trouble finding the group.

A note for participants:

This first session will introduce core routines and foundational practices for what may become a series if there is interest. Future explorations may include other more in depth nature-based practices. We will also create an opportunity for individual ongoing practice and ways to communicate about the process going forward.

What to bring:

  • Water and a snack if you think you’ll be hungry. We do encourage you to eat lunch before you come so you’re not too famished during the gathering.

  • Water.

  • Sunblock and/or a hat.

  • Wear or bring clothes with layers so you can be comfortable depending on the weather.

  • We'll have an optional time for going barefoot on grass, so if you may want to participate in that (highly recommend!) bring shoes you can easily take on and off. Socks are also ok for this!

  • And a small journal or paper and pen/pencil.

Note: We will be sitting on the ground for part of the workshop. If you need something to sit on for comfort or stability (towel, camping chair, etc), please bring that with you. If you're comfortable sitting on the ground, no need to bring anything else.

To fully engage in this practice, you'll be invited to leave devices in a basket when arriving—phones, smartwatches, and other distractions—so we can be fully present. These will be held safely and returned at the end of the event. You can also choose to leave devices at home or tucked away safely in your car.
