Jesus was not the kind of guy to assert power and privilege, though he had plenty at his disposal. Rather, he chose to embrace humility and service and called his followers to do the same. In that spirit, we at Haven seek not only to serve one another, but also to serve the practical needs of others in our community.

One way we can help meet the needs of those around us is by supporting other local non-profits who are doing important work every day through partnering with their efforts. We are grateful to work with Berkeley Food and Housing Project to provide dinners regularly for one of their shelters. Each month, we make a meal plan, purchase the supplies, prepare and serve dinner for 50 men and 35 women at their Dwight Way shelter. No special skills required: volunteers get to just show up and help cook and serve. We are currently serving on the 3rd Saturday of each month. Sign up here to help with a future dinner.
